Fethiye is little england so you will have no problem finding english pubs, food etc.

If you going to work out there you will need a work permit first or face the risk of deportation if you get caught working illegally. There have been crack downs recently in the resort towns.

Worrying about English pubs should be way down your list of priorities.

look!!!

it was a simple question and why are a few of you so negative?

i know that turkish beer isn´t as good a british ,so it´s obvious that i want to know where English beer is served.i want real ale and guinness,ok?i love also watching football with other Newcastle fans so i have to go to English pubs for that.

I am coming to Fethiye to work teaching sport ,so i am not coming due to being an alcoholic!

Cheeky replies like"stay in England" i don not need,so be careful Footie.

cheers.

dave.

I think work permit checks have been mostly directed at Estate agents and Tour companies. However it would be foolish to think that other forms of employment are immune from such checks.

It is true that Fethiye joined Europe a year or two ago but it still remains a small, quiet and friendly town. I think that the inhabitants have held on to the restaurant and street cafe ideal and resisted pubs and fast food.

Places like Hisaronu and Olu Deniz during the summer months feel like Ramsgate and Margate.

Seriously Dave, you will need to do a lot of research if you intend to live and work here.

why research?

i moved to germany from england and got on well.

my job is being organised for me ,it´s not in the gastronomie area, and i will get the formalities sorted out at the turkish embassy in london before i go.

I can imagine what happens to lawbreakers in turkey, remember"midnight express"??

i will begin learning turkish asap.after my job is sorted out.

cheers.

Dave.(not from dagenham !)

Dave,

Getting 'real ale' and guinness on tap is impossible any where in Turkey. Guinness is not officially exported to Turkey but you can find bottles which have been brought over (via someones suitcase) at a premium price. The only beers you will find on tap are efes and tuborg. You can find bitter and other english beers but it will be the same as guinness sold at an extorunate rate.

Also you dont need to go to the pub to watch football. You can get all premiership matches live on NTV free via digiturk.

Its not being negative. Its experiences which most of us have come across in our life here and try to pass on.

It pays to be on the look out for the next exocet.

If you read the many items in the forums you will see some of the problems encountered and how to resolve them.

I think we have all benefited from reading the advice posted in these forums.

Many restaurant and cafes show the games live on satellite and they advertise what games they are showing over the next day or two. But unfortunately the beer will be Efes or Efes or Efes

Every other Brit in Turkey drinks Efes. I am sure after a few weeks of going thirsty, you will too :)

All this talk of beer is upsetting me. At the moment I think I would commit murder for a pint of Spitfire, or Courage Directors, Sam Smith's, Theakston. Any real ale really.
