Some time ago - 3/4 years I believe, manubrian gave some very interseting and informative information about how Turkish Residents could exempt a UK pension from UK tax.
I have attempted to begin the process but have hit a 'brick wall' with the Revenue, insomuch as they want 'proof' that my income is being Taxed in Turkey.
The problem that I have is that the Local Tax Office is not willing to put an Official Stamp on the Revenue form that I have completed.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the Turkish Tax Office to Stamp my Inland Revenue Form?
Many Thanks

Hi Mike.It is possible to do but we had to enlist the help of a retired TK Tax Officer. He is a friend and he got my wife a £5800 Rebate and no further UK Tax.He needed to contact Ankara and get the form signed which he did and we sent it off. Three weeks later my wife phoned UK Tax and they said we have just posted you a cheque and no more Tax.I would hesitate to go down this route on my own.You most certainley need a friend who knows what they are doing.Good Luck.

Hi Ian. Very many thanks for your very speedy and helpful response.
The Inland Revenue seem unwilling to accept what I am sending to them; not related to the fact that they will have to repay me my overpaid Tax of course!
I think that you are correct in-so-much as I do need a Turkish (no problem) friend, and one that understands the System (big problem), as your own friend does.
Is there any possibility that he would be able to help me or failing that is there anyone that he can put me into touch with who can assist?
I will be more than willing to re-imburse any costs including any fee that would arise.
Again many thanks for your help.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike. I had dinner with my friend last night and yes he will help you. It is very time consuming and can be expensive due to having to ag to Ankara to get the documents signed. As I said before you will have to be present at all stages except Ankara. There is a cost involved but I think it will be 500 TL. If you wish to proceed then I will put you in touch with him or can you speak Turkish ? If not then we need to make some other arrangement. Suggest that you e-mail me as it will be easier.

Hi again Ian, and thanks for the additional info.
Yes I will wish to go ahead. And I understand that I will need to make myself available.
No I don't speak very much Turkish but have several friends who do so no probs.
I do not know your e-mail address, and the forum will not let me send one to you.
So how can we communicate?
Any suggestions.
I am happy to send my e-mail address but am not sure if it will contravene the Forum Rules, or that it will be safe? I obviously don't want innundating with unsolicited mails.
I will be guided by you.
Again thanks for all your help.
Regards
Mike

You may not get it stamped by the tax office. But you can have a document showing the tax amount you pay in Turkiye yearly. That document shows where the tax amount occurs. Then you can use it. It is a creative legal solution. I have not experienced it actually as a lawyer.
