 Post subject: Moving to Ilica
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2007 11:04 am
Is there any ex-pats living in Ilica or Side who can give me any information about living in Turkey. We are emigrating to Ilica end of September and are looking forward to it but when reading on the Forum it sounds quite daunting. We will not be working, we are trying to learn the language (very slow) and want to integrate with the people. We have been over quite a few times and have found the Turkish people to be very friendly but obviously need a few Brits around to converse with. If anyone wants to email me with any little snippet of useful info, my address is [email protected],com.

Hope someone can help

Izzy

Hi

I dont live to far from Ilica im actually in Side. Most of the guys on here would be able to give you better information about moving and living there all i can give is my experiances to date.

I moved here in April alone with no turkish/English boyfriend( as everyone presumes being a young single girl) ive visited this area a few times and the people are fantastic once you have made the move it is scary at first as is anything but once youve found your feet its so easy you can just jump on and off Dolmus (local bus) go to your local bar and also you will get to know the ex pats in your area.

I am currently trying to learn the language although most in this area speak english and also german in the Kumkoy area (which is next to Ilica. They respect the fact that you are trying and they are all so helpful and polite anyway which is great.

If there is any information you need and that i can help with please feel free to either leave another post or Pm me.

If not good luck with the move and i will probably see you there x
