First of all, as a Turkish citizen I wish you a nice and joyful period in our country.

I would like to remind you that, 25 March 2010 is the deadline for filing and accrual of Annual Personal Income Tax Returns to tax offices. Every type of incomes gained in FY2009 should be declared with a tax return to the government. Those incomes are wages, proffessional income, income from trading activities, all type of capital gains (F/X, stock market,T-Bonds etc), rental income, income from copyright, royalties and all types of gains from buying and selling activities.

Please note that;

1- You may have to declare your GLOBAL INCOME per to your residency status! (Incomes gained both in your country/a country apart from Turkey and Turkey)

2- You can only deduct a FIXED amount of taxes paid in your country/another country apart from Turkey from the tax which will be paid in Turkey!

3-Expats working in consulates should be very careful as consulates CANNOT make witholding from wages per to Turkish tax laws, you HAVE TO declare your wage income with a tax return!

i didnt know the exact content, it will be useful..

I paid my tax with a few days to go until the deadline:) Even if I had to sit around in the tax office for ages I got it done. They were perfectly nice and said I can pay it in two halves or all at once so I chose to pay it in two halves.
Ozgur is perfectly right to remind expats of their duty (if they are residents here and earning) to pay tax. Failure to do so can get us jumped on from a great height and we could get into all sorts of trouble:)

Thank you for this posting!

I remain unclear on this issue for I am an ExPat working here for an airline. Supposedly our taxes are paid but we are merely given pay reports which are all written in Turkish and I am having difficulty interpreting the printout.

I remain open to suggestions?
