Hello

To be short...
I am french, and don't need visa for 90 days (as a tourist). I came here in order to stay. I've been offered an "internship" and now, trying to make all procedures for resident permit and working permit.
I took an appointment for the resident permit, it will be on march 18th. On the document that I printed from the website, they are asking for bank statement with at least 300$ per month, but are not saying how many month ! Do we choose by ourself if we want to apply for a 6 months or one year? Depending on our own financial ressources?
They are really not asking for a lot of documents! Just pictures, passport +copies and the bank statement. For me, it sound like the financial situation is there only concern to approve or refuse the residence.
Then, I asked if a bank statement from France is enought or if it must be a turkish one, I got the answer that it must be a account in Turkey. When I went to the bank, they told me that I must have a resident permit to open a bank account .......... NE COMIK!!!!!..so...if somebody as a trick for that...I'll take it
After that, I heard that there is only from Ankara that I can apply for the working permit. Is there any other ways?? I mean, it is only a 3 months internship !!
Thank you for your help!

Aline

Hi Aline,

You can choose the duration of your residence permit depending the amount of the money that you have. You can exchange your money to TL in an exchange office and take the receipt to the Foreigners Police Dept. The receipt must be issued on your name.

If your internship will be for 3 months, you don't need to bother to apply for a work permit which takes about 2 months to obtain. Your company should take care of it anyway but as I said don't bother to apply for it.

Thank you Dervish...
Actually, to be precise, I will be working at the French Consulate. It is a replacement position. I have a letter from the Consulate, but, they informed me that I must get a working permission...I feel a little bit lost now...
For the money, most of my money is in France...I really don't want to take it at an ATM (that will cost me a LOT) and change it after (that will also cost...)...
Tomorow I'll just go to every bank that I can...I play the dumb foreigner...I might find one to open my account...
:?
