Hi All,
Does anyone have any up-to-date information on entering Italy with cats? My two cats came with me into Turkey from the U.S. and I had no problems. However, moving from Turkey to the EU is another story. They have their implanted microchips, but I am confused by some of the information I have found online. Do they need blood tests one month after their rabies vaccine, and within how much time of travel? What about Pet Passports; are they even available in Turkey?

Thanks for whatever help you can give!

I've flown over 20 international flights with dogs and cats, but never into the EU, so can't be much help. However, I know tons of adoptable dogs in rescues here are flown to new homes in the EU. So it can definitely be done from Turkey. All vets here can supply a pet passport (has a green cover), give rabies shots, implant a microchip and draw blood to send to a lab to check the titer. I'm not sure about the timing of the blood draw, so hopefully somebody else can help with that part.

Thanks very much for your reply! Since I posted, the blood test has been done, and to be safe, my cats and I will be flying 3 months after the date that was completed. The last question is about the Certificate of Origin, which apparently does not mean the U.S., where the cats are from; I know it involved visits to two or three different government offices... not sure if it is required but I want to make sure I don't overlook anything... I was told this paperwork must be done within 48 hours of travel.
