HI all.
I am a American woman here living with my boy friend. I raced Bikes back home and need to run here. But my boy friend tell me it is not safe for me to run here in Turkey by my self. We live in the Etimesgut-Eryaman area. Is there any running groups around here?
Thanks for the help.

Hi I am a Canadian living here in Ankara. For the last couple of Sundays I have taken the bus from Cankaya up the hill to the southwest, to Oran woods opposite Panora Shopping Centre. There are lots of people running and mountain biking through the Scot's Pine plantation which is above Lake Eymir below.

Women are typically in groups so this seems wise in that it is fairly remote but great for trekking/running/biking. Also there is a good running path along the boulevard ao no security worries - just traffic noise and pollution.

The Hash House Harriers went to the Oran woods two weeks ago so have a look at their web site and you can see pics of the woods and many other spots around Ankara. They meet today at 12:30 pm at the parking lot near the Japanese Embassy Residence (see map on their web site).

Let me know if you are into tennis since I have access to courts nearby the Botanic Park and this would get you running for sure.

Cheers,

Alboggs
