Hi everyone. I will be moving to Turkey in June, and I'm having a really hard time to find medical insurance. I have a very young daughter that has breathing difficulties and may need to have her trach in for several more months before she will be back to normal, so I really would feel alot better if I have mendical insurance in place. Any suggestions, or links would be great.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I recently got an insurance for myself good both in Turkey and abroad. After my long search I figured that Anadolu Sigorta is the best and reasonable as well. You can contact them through their website, I'm adding the link (it's in English)

http://www.anadolusigorta.com.tr/en/

Regards,
Berna

Hello

I am trying to find out about health insurance in Turkey.Thinking of moving to Turkey and want to find out what kind of price private health insurance will be?Do I need private health insurance?I am 34 and hubby is 41.We will be retiring to Turkey. We did look at Bupa which quoted £160 a month for both of us and Norwich Union who said £130 a month. This seems very expensive to me as I am young and healthy and do not smoke etc. Also I already have private health insurance and it costs £60 a month for both of us here in the Uk, so these £160 a month figures seem way too high.Is it better to get private health insurance from a Turkish company rather than an English one?Do you have private health insurance??Any info of this would be great.

healthcare is super cheap in turkey. i went to a private hospital's emergency room last year and the bill was equivalent to 350 usd. they recommended that i stay for an additional 3 days and gave me a quote upfront: 2000 usd. the service was amazing...no triage. i was taken immediately to a bed and the staff was very competent. i didn't have insurance, but apparently the hospital has it's own insurance and it's really good (my fiancee's sister and husband have it). the hospital is called acibadem and i think that their annual policy costs around 400 for both.

best of luck to you!

If you are visiting for a while, you may be able to get short term or travel insurance. If you are going to be living there, then there might be Turkish health plans for ex pats. I usually am only in a country for a short period and never have to get a foreign plan.

You should be able to find cheap expatriate insurance if you are moving there. As people have said before the healthcare system isn't that expensive compared to some countries so the rates are usually quite low.

This is a really helpful post. I am planning on visiting soon for a possible change in employment. If I get the insurance figured out beforehand it will be one less thing to do.

I recommend obtaining an expatriate health insurance policy before you go over there. Then, after you've lived there for awhile and decide what you want to do, you'll be able to get a local Turkish insurance plan. It's probably the safest way to go.
