There are a lot of countries that do not need visas. You can see al list of these on this web site http://www.mfa.gov.ge/index.php?sec_id=96&lang_id=ENG
So you can just arrive at the border - even in the case of needing a visa you can generally get these at the border.
Not expecting to be in Trabzon for at least a couple of weeks - we were there just last weekend. Where in the mountains are you? We have a car or during the week I can use a taxi. I would be happy to meet you in the mall in the centre of Trabzon if that is easier or up the mountains somewhere.
excellent thanks for the info when will you be headed into trabzon we would love to meet up and talk about the area how long have you been here for ? eric
We've been here for about 18 months now - my husband works at Cayeli Bakir Mine - there are 3 expats here - 2 with expat wives (including me) and one is married to a Turkish lady. At the moment we also have a single expat contractor who will be here for about a year - he might be Canadian - will have to ask him. The company is actually owned by a Canadian Company - but a very small expat community. I am sure there are a few expats in Trabzon and maybe one or 2 in Rize but certainly nothing like you get on West coast of Turkey. I know of 2 other foreigners here - the local tea wholesaler is married to a lady from New York and I have a friend from South Africa who is married to a Turkish guy. In Cayeli itself English speakers are few and far between but I manage with my broken basic Turkish. It does not worry me too much as being married to someone in the mining industry we often live in isolated parts of the world. This last year we seemed to have one or other of our children here and as a result I was travelling with them most of the year. This year I am hoping to get the most part of my Masters completed before my husband's contract finishes mid-next year.
I will be in touch with you next time we head into Trabzon.
