Hi there,

I would like to have some clear info about the fact that foreign people working as consultants don't need a work visa in Turkey.
I currently work in Italy and my company has an office in Istanbul. They want to send me there for a period but in the office there are just 3 TC citizens so we can't apply for a work permit.
I want to be sure that working as an external consultant I wouldn't require a work visa because I heard something about it.
Tesekkur ederim simdiden!

There is no such work permit to allow foreigners to work as a consultant. You need to employ 2 more TC citizens in order to apply for work permit.

As long as you are being paid from outside Turkey by a non Turkish company you should not need a work permit.

being paid abroad does not qualify the foreign applicant to work without a work permit. The difference is, if you submit that the foreignner's salary ans social security expenses are paid from the company abroad, you don't pay social secirity to the Turkish authorities.

Sertol,

What are the options if your employer is not an entity in Turkey, pays you as a US employee, but you work in Turkey? My employer can't sponsor my work permit here, so we seem to be at an impasse unless I start my own consultancy in Turkey. Any suggestions?

Amy
